Mutton Rogan Josh with Naan

Mutton Rogan Josh’s recipe with Naan is a delectable Indian dish that combines tender pieces of the mutton cooked into the rich, aromatic sauce and served with the fluffy naan bread. This dish originates from the beautiful region of Kashmir in Northern India, where it has been enjoyed for centuries.

Rogan Josh, which translates to “red lamb,” gets its name from the vibrant red colour of the sauce. The sauce is made by blending a variety of aromatic spices like Kashmiri red chilli powder, ginger, and garlic, and a unique blend of whole spices such as cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. The mutton is marinated in a mixture of yoghurt and spices to enhance its flavours and tenderness.

The marinated mutton is then slow-cooked with the spice-infused sauce, allowing the flavours to meld together and the meat to become tender and succulent. The result is a hearty and flavorful dish with a rich, velvety sauce that will tantalize your taste buds.

To complement the Mutton Rogan Josh, soft and pillowy naan bread is often served on the side. Naan is a traditional Indian bread made from a combination of all-purpose flour, yoghurt, yeast, and ghee (clarified butter). It is typically cooked in a tandoor (clay oven) to achieve a slightly crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior. The naan acts as the perfect vehicle for sopping up the delicious sauce and savouring every bit of this mouthwatering dish.
